I usually don't write a lot when I post here. I figure most people probably don't want to read it - and they would rather just see a picture and get on with their lives. This past weekend was pretty sick, though. So I have a little bit more to write.
I went to a little island called Langkawi in the northern part of Malaysia this past weekend. We (Sarah, Jamie and I) were only there for two days. On the first day, while the girls chose to stay on the island to do some stuff, I figured it only made sense to head over to Thailand for the day.
I took some random bus in Langkawi, which took me to the ferry port. Once I figured that out, I was on the 1 hour ferry over to Thailand. I got there, and found a ride into the nearest town. The "ride" I found was essentially the back of a pick-up truck filled with people, including three other white dudes. I was trying my best to take a picture that showed how incredibly packed it was, but nothing worked. This was the best I could do:
I had my head out of the side most of the time. Both because I couldn't really fit it inside the truck, and because I wanted the breeze. There was a "roof," but it was more of a tarp covering some metal posts.
Once in the town of Satun, I just walked around by myself for a few hours. I found this really cool market that I hung out in for a bit. Had a traditional Thai meal there too, which I definitely felt today when I went to the bathroom.
I also got another picture of me infront of another stop-sign. In the background they were working on building a Thai Buddhist Temple.... pretty sick.
A few hours later I jumped on the back of some guys motor cycle to get back to the ferry... took the ferry back, and that was it. One day in Thailand.
